Our 2009 Simms Ball field
Improvement Service Project: This year’s “special service event” will take place
the Weekend of May 2 & 3. Many of us have already stepped forward and
signed up to participate. We will reticulate the signup schedule on Thursday.
Please be sure to step forward as you’re able. Also as mentioned, Skaneateles Sunrise Rotary will be
participating along with us.
Also,
mark calendars for our Pancake Breakfast
Sunday June 21 including set up June 19 & 20,
break down June 22.
Last Week’s Program: Steven Frankenpohl with the Skaneateles Festival gave the group an
overview of perhaps Skaneateles’ premier and best-known annual event. Steve
discussed this year’s program, its focus, and musicians. Particularly
interesting were some of the past lodging arrangements and the great memories
that part of the festival has created.
This Week’s
Program:
From Syracuse University, Marilyn
Higgins, VP for Community Engagement & Economic Involvement will address our group. Like many major universities
located in large metropolitan areas, SU is immersing itself in urban
redevelopment, economic improvement and the creation of a safe and progressive
environment for higher education. Becoming a positive influence and partner
with the city of Syracuse in this effort serves the university and entire and
surrounding CNY, preserving the viability and vitality of our area.
Next Week’s
Program:
Auburn mayor, Michael Quill will be
our dinner speaker. He’s sue to present a “state of the city”, address local
economics, pressing issues and opportunities, just as Bob Green did for Skaneateles a few weeks ago. Answering our questions will surely be
a part of his podium time and our opportunity learn how Auburn works.
Benediction & Atonement: To start our evening off, Skip Plank will provide an invocation
tying in with his speaker’s topic and theme for the evening. As always, he’ll
give us some food for thought and reflection.
I
promised to admit Ralph Jurgensen was “not ninety” on his birthday last
Thursday the 16th if he agreed to be Fine Master this week.
Jack Hyatt can boast to be the reason
we do not have fines & happy $$$ every week; great job last week. Jack,
what is Chien-Ming Wang’s ERA? And the final score
vs. Cleveland Saturday was? Answers below.

and enlightening speakers. Thanks for taking the time and putting in the effort

“GREAT TRUTHS ADULTS HAVE LEARNED”
Raising
teenagers is like nailing jelly to a tree.
Wrinkles
don’t hurt.
Families are
like fudge, good, with some nuts mixed in.
You usually
get what you give.
Today’s
mighty oak was yesterday’s nut that held its ground.
Life can be
hard.
Laughing is a
great mental exercise.
One cannot
count on life being fair.
Middle age is
when you choose cereal for the fiber, not the toy.
