week’s meeting (attendance 62%). Missing:

Last Week’s Program: Club Assembly and board meeting review. Tom Seeley, president of the Skaneateles Sunrise Rotary Club spoke
about their Winterfest fundraiser in January. He is requesting our help with the various events, setup,
and other necessary functions they’ll need assistance with. He asked for volunteers and will be
following up with specific needs and times.
This Week’s Program: Gurnek Singh, retired
Syracuse University librarian will speak about “Perspectives on Modern
Library.” Umesh Patil will provide
a background and introduction for his talk.
Next Meeting - December 4th:
Thanksgiving is a “bye” week on our
schedule. We’ll meet next on
December 4th, scheduled as a Club Assembly and Board Meeting. However, there has been a planning
alteration. Linda Roche has agreed to be our speaker that evening and discuss
residential real estate. Given the
“uncertain times” and Linda’s renowned leadership reputation, it promises to be
a fascinating insight to the future of local home values and a look back at
“similar times.” You won’t want to
miss the evening! No Assembly, No
Board, Bring a friend.
Benediction & Atonement: Dick Kokosa will
present some thoughts with a season sensitive invocation from perhaps a
“secular” point of view.
Thanksgiving donations will be collected by a smiling Patti Langley, better bring some Happy
$$$$.
Of Note: Ward Vuillemot
introduced June at our meeting the
13th . Not sure whether
it was a “makeup” for a slight faux pas on the 6th or a “credit” for
one yet ahead?
SRC Annual Meeting: The Club’s annual meeting will be January 8th,
Club Assembly. More
information to follow. January 8th
will also be our next board meeting, cancel December.

Board Bullitt Points from
11/13/Board Meeting:
·
SRF will provide a balance sheet and income statement for our
membership quarterly as the SRC does.
·
Club will match all SRC member donations to R.I. giving campaign from
08-09 up to $100 per member donation and $1500 total.
·
Reviewed meeting held at high school (11/6) and agreed it could develop
into a good annual event featuring Rotary’s local community efforts, youth
exchange and hopefully encouraging new memberships.
·
The YE budget for 08-09 exchange student process was submitted by Lori
Ruhlman, prepared concisely by Michele Tarnow, and approved for $4,247. Great
job ladies..
Christmas
Fund Raiser Dec. 11:
The Skaneateles Rotary Club’s
annual Christmas Fund Raiser will be held on Thursday Dec. 11 at the
Skaneateles Country Club. We will begin with a happy hour at 6 PM followed by a
family style turkey dinner at 7PM and once again we will be entertained by the
Nick Palumbo Quartet. Tickets this year are $25 to cover the cost of the dinner
and entertainment.
As in years past, the dinner will be followed by the traditional raffle of
prizes donated by local businesses and professionals as well as by Rotarians. The
raffle with its single ticket donation is how we raise the funds needed by the
local Outreach Office and the Skaneateles and Spafford Food Pantries for their
Christmas gift and dinner programs for the area’s needy. This year the expectation
is that the number of needy families will be greater than ever.
Each Rotarian is asked to please begin planning for this wonderful event by
lining up friends, business associates, golfing buddies, neighbors, etc. to
invite for Dec. 11. Last year there were 176 of us enjoying the ambiance and
great food at the Club, the camaraderie of guests and fellow Rotarians, and
especially the warm positive emotion of helping others during the Christmas
season. We raised over $7,000!
Jack Hyatt is in charge of tickets
and he is once again encouraging Rotarians individually or in partnership with
another Rotarian to put together an eight or ten person table of guests. The
goal this year is to increase participation by 15% to 200 people. Jack and the
other committee members (Todd May, Steve
Schwartz, Dale Zabel, Timer Whittingham,
Jim Gregg & yours truly) will be at upcoming meetings to provide
additional information, to answer any questions and most importantly to reserve
a ticket for each Rotarian and her/his guests.
