October 23 Attendance & Missing Faces: There were “ 25 ” Rotarians at
last week’s meeting (attendance 52%).

Gregg, Langley, Lee, Moody, O’Neill, Patil, Priest, Rademacher, Renner, Roche, Ruhlman,
Rutan, Tarnow, Weaver, Whalen, Zabel
Last Week’s
Program: We received an informative seminar
about our local Rotary website navigation from the master and site creator, Ward Vuillemot. After just returning from Lubbock,
Texas area visiting his daughter’s family, he put together an educational “how
to use” our local site while pointing out its many attributes. Ward also presented this web overview
to the Sunrise Club. He has
developed a site that encompasses each of the Skaneateles’ Rotary Clubs and
their activities.
This Weeks
Program: Coach Jack Emmer will present his version of a Rotary
classification. It should be
filled with fascinating anecdotes about his career as a lacrosse coach
including our military academy.
Should be entertaining, enjoyable, and sure to be laced with a few “war”
stories.
Next Week’s
Program: We will be at the Skaneateles High School and have a 6:00 p.m. start/get
together time with a buffet dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. Bring prospective new members, someone
you know who may be interested in hosting inbound Rotary exchange students or a
family that has an interest in learning about the “outbound” process. More information on page #2, or contact
Roberta, Lori,
or Karen Price directly. Sign up
and plan to participate!
Benediction
& Atonement: The pre-meal honors will
be provided by Gary Caldwell
this Thursday. Atonement
and payback will be handled by Jack
Hyatt, a huge ARMY fan, so Jack
Emmer surely will be safe this week. If there are any Philly fans among us though, you might want
to keep your heads down! Jack’s
not too happy about the World Series so far.
Halloween
Night: To volunteer with this year’s program
at State Street School, Friday, October 31st, please contact Karen
Price, Todd May, or Steve Schwartz.

Nov 8 Rotary United Nations Day
News and Notices:
HELP! Sixteen Interact students have signed up to go to Rotary
International Day at the United Nations on Saturday, November 8. Now we need to figure out how to get
them there. Karen Price, Lori Ruhlman and Michele Tarnow (and son) have signed up as the
chaperones. Getting 20 people to the UN by 8:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning is
proving difficult. We are
exploring options and would love any input anyone might have. Does anyone have a van or SUV to loan
us? Does anyone want to be a
driver??? A driver with an SUV or
van would be great. Other things
that would help: information about
an inexpensive place to stay on Friday if we drive down the night before …
probably some place in New Jersey right on a train line into Manhattan. Or
someone with a contact who could get us a good deal on a charter limo/bus. The best price we’ve received is
$2,000.
If
you have any ideas, or would like to join us or help with driving, contact
Karen, Lori or Michele.

NEW MEMBER // YOUTH EXCHANGE DINNER MEETING,
THURSDAY, NOVWEMBER 6, SKANEATELES HIGH SCHOOL @ 6 P.M. // “DON’T MISS IT”!!: Bring
a prospective new member, someone you may know or are aware of who might be
interested in community service and “what Rotary stands for.”
The
meeting will also feature the local inbound Rotary exchange students and be a
great opportunity to meet and visit with them. Should you know a family that
has a prospective or interested exchange student this is the time and
opportunity to bring them to learn more about the process.
Because
of the High School location we will need to sign up for the 6 p.m. event,
including numbers of guests. This reservation sheet has been and will again be
circulated during this week’s meeting.
GROUP STUDY EXCHANGE –
2009: For those who may be interested in next
year’s GSE venture to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, contact Henry MacDonald, GSE Outbound Chairman at 315.246.3603 or
email at info@fingerlakesscuba.com. Henry is a member of the Auburn Rotary
Club. Our district website, www.rotarydistrict7150.org also
has information. Attached with
this Skantarian is an informative word document overview which can answer some questions and provides
contact information, trip timing, details, necessary qualifications, and
requirements. Surely Henry would also welcome a call or email.
