Week's Program: Kristen Sanford gave an interesting
background on the sport of "crew" and its background at S.U. She did a bit of recruiting for Syracuse
as well as suggesting our lake might be a great spot for a rowing regatta.
This
Week's Program: A board meeting at 5:30 followed by dinner assembly meeting
at 6:30; members only. At
dinner we'll be discussing our many "service project efforts"; which
ones we as SRC members are seriously interested in pursuing and which we might
decide to pass on rather than diluting efforts and available money. This will be a "club"
decision. Also up for discussion
will be a fundraising proposal we heard a little about at the Sept. 11
assembly.
Next
Week's Program: A slight scheduling issue yet to be straightened out by our
super speaker scheduler, Skip Plank. Soon to be resolved we're sure.
Benediction & Fleecing: Peter Anderson has graciously agreed to provide some
appropriate words of wisdom for us during these important & terribly
turbulent times for our nation. Still working on the “flock fleecer, but would gladly accept a
volunteer!!

News and Notices:
Skip Plank proves a writer's creativity
and imagination with the following vision for a regatta on Skaneateles Lake. Maybe a new, for the future, SRC
sponsored initiative?? Everything starts with an idea.

A Challenge to Skaneateles Community, Skaneateles Rotary and Syracuse University:
A University Crew regatta on Skaneateles Lake, could it happen?
Some call rowing a symphony of motion, strength and precision. Imagine the following:
As dawn breaks over Skaneateles Lake, the women’s crew of the University of Washington, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Boston College, Princeton and Syracuse lift their shells from trailer racks and launch into the lake. On another rack, the oars hang ready to be prepared and slipped into the locks. Then with a graceful step of motion each crew take their specific position in their shell and glide out onto the lake. Colorful, beautiful, silent and gracefully each crew strokes the lake’s water achieving instant motion. With great emotion each crew anticipates how each member will blend to make an extraordinary effort to start and reach the finish line 2000 meters away. A synchronous motion over water, a harmonic flexing of fiberglass, carbon fiber and muscle; where each piece of equipment, every oar, every person achieving precise movement thrusting the shell with over the water with the goal of winning the prestigious Skaneateles Cup.
