SKANEATELES WINTERFEST 2008 - Saturday, January 26th:
WinterFest 2008 is on track for this Saturday. Skaneateles Sunrise Rotary Club greatly
appreciates the Skaneateles Rotary Club's list of Rotarians who've volunteered
to help out. According to John
Paddock, volunteer assignments should be complete by mid-day Thursday and folks
will be notified of proposed "fills" in a timely manner by email,
phone or, if necessary, sled or SAR dogs! The Skaneateles Journal graciously
provided a full page WF08 spread on page B6 of this week's edition, already on
the street.
Key points:
á
Craft Fair runs 9 - 5
this year, with over 50 booths located at both at Skaneateles Community Center
and The Sherwood Inn's West Porch.
Most other activities begin at 10 AM.
á
The Sherwood Inn once
again hosts the Chili Challenge, but there's also the Winter BeerFest at Joe's
Pasta Garage, Wine Tasting at The Village Bottle Shop, Coffee Tasting at
Creekside Books & Coffee.
á
Skaneateles Artisans
will have an open house and demos, adding to the activities in the Village
Center.
á
To help tie it all together,
there'll be a shuttle bus running a route 11 AM - 4 PM from the Community
Center parking lot to the activities downtown.
As members of the Skaneateles Rotary Club we look
forward to supporting our fellow Rotarians of the Sunrise Club in its annual
major fundraiser.
What else is New??? We know
that everyone is still getting into the New Year but share your news with the
rest of us by sending your info to John Shannon, Editor of this newsletter.
Rotary
Timeline – 1985: With membership on the verge of one million in its
80th year, Rotary launches PolioPlus, a program to protect children worldwide
from the cruel and fatal consequences of polio. By 1988, Rotarians help raise
more than US$247 million for the effort. Inspired by this commitment, and with
Rotary's encouragement, the World Health Assembly resolves to eradicate the
disease with the goal of freeing the world of polio by 2005, the Rotary
Centennial. PolioPlus becomes the first and largest internationally coordinated
private-sector support of a public health initiative.
