Board Bullet Points:  Admirably filling in for Art Fellerman as he toured western national parks was Patty Langley; nice job and thank you!

*Roberta proposed an away from the Sherwood dinner (likely at a Skaneateles school) to introduce exchange students to the community and also to recruit potential new Rotarians to our club.

*Todd gave a brief update for the Christmas Basket dinner at the SCC on 12.11.08. Gift donations were discussed.

*Lori reviewed a Halloween "event" including Interact & "jazzing up" this traditional event.  A specific evening date for the event was also discussed since there was some thought that Halloween itself might not be the best date.

*Doug mentioned that the "worthy cause" approval process between SRC & SRF might be streamlined and improved; Bill & John to review.

Picnic focuses on pancakes:  Fall meeting looks back at work Rotarians did in spring   .... Lori Rulhman

The people who flip the pancakes, crack the eggs, sell the tickets and pour the orange juice gathered for a picnic at Lourdes Camp Thursday to pat each other on the back for the best Rotary Pancake Breakfast on record.
It was the annual thank-you picnic, where Rotarians provide dinner for the volunteers who help them pull off the pancake breakfast so that they can give the profits back to the Skaneateles area community.
“We had record sales of $21,520,” Rotarian Roberta Williams, told the crowd.  That resulted, she said, in a profit of $12,609, which will go back into the community to support a wide range of projects and groups, including the food pantry, boy scouts, youth exchange, the community band and literacy efforts – locally and worldwide.
Williams said that the annual picnic “celebrates the hard work of the many volunteers who make our annual Fathers Day Pancake Breakfast the success that it is.”
She said that this year, 150 people volunteered at the breakfast.  That is not even counting all of the Rotarians who worked to make it happen.
“Without the volunteers, very frankly we wouldn’t be able to put on the breakfast,” Williams said.  The volunteer crews included 35 Boy Scouts who managed trash control and five volunteers from the fire department on traffic control.  Other volunteers included spouses, partners and family members of Rotarians; youth exchange students, parents and host families; Rotarian friends and neighbors; students and Interact C
lub members; and members of neighboring Rotary Clubs.
