News and Notices:

MEETING PARTICIPANTS:   For July 31, 21 members and 2 guests attended our dinner meeting. Attendance reported at 49%.

Jack Hyatt made it back after his successful recovery, looks great and was gracious enough to provide a pre-meal blessing and a thoughtful invocation.

Roberta Williams did a thorough job collecting loose $$$$$s from a smiling and clearly happy base of members and there were several “jolly good fellows” tossing in 55555s.

Thanks to you both for your thoughtful input and collections.

DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY:    The Skantarian is our club’s “newsletter” and can gladly be used for and by all of us to convey news and messages about our club, its activities and our members.  If you have anything noteworthy to mention about activities or interesting news regarding your family, other club members, anything you believe we’d be interested in learning about, please write.  A fishing trip, new arrival of grandchild, great family vacation, a thank you for something, you name & write it.  Send in your “goings on” to Pam Hares (phh@mlsattorneys.com) or John Shannon (jms@mlsattorneys.com) and it will be printed here.

SPEAKERS PROGRAM:   Peter Adams gave a wonderful presentation on his family, its rich heritage in the central NY area including revolutionary and civil war participation.  He wove his upbringing, education, work experience, and family business into a great story that included his own wife and children and culminated with his interests and ethical standards.  What a great “CLASSification talk Peter!  Thank you for sharing.

Next Week on August 7th, Dirk Young will discuss the now 3rd generation Twin Birch Dairy and what it takes in 2008 to operate a state of the art dairy with 2,000 cows on 2,000 acres while complying with many Department of Environmental Conservation regulations and a changing Skaneateles economy, landscape, and population base.

BOARD MEETING / CLUB ASSEMBLY / AUGUST 14:   Again as in July we’ll go with a Rotary members only assembly after our 5:30 p.m. board meeting to give everyone the opportunity to speak, ask questions, make suggestions, criticize or compliment as you wish.  We expect Larry Calabrese, our own Rotary “Governor” to be with us that evening.

LAST WEEK FOR NEW AND UPDATED DIRECTORY PHOTOS:   See Lori or Ward before, during or after our 8/7 meeting to get an updated photograph for the directory or…. live with the face you’ve got for yet another Rotary year (-:
