PHOTOS FOR CLUB DIRECTORY Is your directory picture a
bit dated? Maybe you don’t recall
when it was last taken or might have had a better smile, not to mention that
you are much better looking today? To get an updated photo taken please see Lori or Ward before,
during or immediately after the next two meetings (July 31, Aug 7). We’d like to go to print with an updated
directory next month.
JULY
24TH ATTENDANCE & MISSING FACES Adams, Bennett, Buterbaugh, Caldwell, Corcoran, Gregg, Jurgensen,
Langley, T. May, McLennan, Moody, O’Neil, Poppa, Rademacher,
Renner, Roche, Ruhlman, Rutan,
Tarnow, Veverka, R. Williams, Wisner (SRC members at meeting: 24) (week’s
attendance: 49%)
WHERE ARE THE FACES? Attending Skaneateles Rotary Club members was “24” this past
week. If you were not here, we
missed you! You’re an important
contributing member and we’re lessened by your absence. If there is something we might be doing
more of, not at all or differently that would make the meetings more appealing,
please bring it up at our next Club Assembly, August 14, or speak with a board
member so it can be discussed at our next session, also August 14.
SPEAKER PROGRAM Our town supervisor, Phil Tierney, was our guest &
speaker on the 24th, providing an update of recent Rotarian volunteer
contributions plus his own review of town government. He concentrated on four primary and important areas:
1. Updating Town Comprehensive Plan;
2. Improving communication in within government, including our
government services;
3. Protecting the Lake water and its watershed;
4. Cooperation between Town and Village governments, combining
services wherever possible.
If you were unable to
be with us, you missed a good insightful presentation.
This
week Peter Adams will give us a look
at his insurance business as part of a classification talk. He has some interesting perspectives on
insurance as they may well pertain to us in our Rotarian service endeavors. It surely will be a worthwhile and
informational session and maybe a help at assessing
our own insurance needs and costs.
Thursday, August 7 will feature Dirk Young of Twin Birch Dairy
discussing the many business issues facing the local dairy industry.
On
August 14, Larry Calabrese, our new
08-09 District Governor will be in Skaneateles visiting both the Skaneateles
Sunrise Rotary & Skaneateles Rotary Clubs. Larry will be addressing each
club and hopeful of meeting as many of us as possible.
