PODIUM ANNOTATIONS

CLUB ASSEMBLY NIGHT:      We held our first “members only” assembly evening following a board meeting Thursday and received an array of good, thoughtful questions, comments and observations. We are addressing each and have responded to some already.  Should you feel we have missed your point, please speak to me or an appropriate board representative for follow up.

Judging from the “octave” level at dinner most were pleased with the diversion from our normal routine and few had any problem speaking up or enjoying the family camaraderie.  It’s what was intended and it was terrific to be involved with the enthusiasm.

One topic which bears repeating was our exceedingly successful Pancake Breakfast.  Robin and Dana are our “naturals” and did as fine a job as has been done; we are fortunate to have been on their team!

Don’t forget Robin’s request of “stepping up to the plate” with him as a coach in ’09.

SPEAKERS PROGRAM:     Skip Plank has taken on the speaker program responsibility for this year. As we all know it is a time consuming and sometimes arduous task.  We are fortunate he has offered.  His updated programs listing will be sent each week along with the Skantarian for your review of all scheduled speakers, dates and topics.

Undoubtedly Skip could use your help, ideas and suggestions for any open dates; please talk with him directly if you know of someone interesting whom you could contact.

This week, July 17, our own quiet, shy and reserved Simon Moody will be doing his classification presentation and I’m sure will have plenty of “down under” to keep us entertained.

Next week, July 24, Town Supervisor, Phil Tierney will be our guest speaker discussing volunteerism.

BOARD BULLETS FROM 7.10.08:     The following are “unapproved” board highlights from Thursday’s board meeting.

·      Nine of 15 members attending.

·      Bill Stevens was elected to complete Roberta’s term as she moved to V.P.

·      Pancake Breakfast receipts will be “about” $20,000, 3600 meals served, $9,000 expenses.

·      Discussion about moving $7,600+/- from SRC Service Fund to SRF checking account.

·      Operating budget of $9,600 for ’08-’09 year was proposed by Sue.

·      Dale’s fundraising group continues to work toward a car raffle.
