News and Notices:
Pancake Breakfast Timetable- Please everyone mark your calendars for the
Pancake Breakfast at the Austin Park Pavillion as
follows: 6/13 Friday 8-10 AM to set up the grills and tables/chairs (Rotarians
with pick-ups and/or strong muscles report to Dave Lee’s barn on Pork St at 8
AM), 6/14 Saturday 8-10 AM to clean/test the grills and dress the tables, 6/15
Sunday 6:30AM-2PM for the breakfast and cleanup, 6/16 Monday 8-10 AM for
breakdown and storage (pick-ups and muscles again needed). This event only
works if every Rotarian makes a full commitment! Also, we need
volunteers (family, friends, neighbors, etc.) so please recruit anyone and
every one you can and give the names to Robin for assignment.
Skaneateles Rotarians Bring Home the Trophy -
June 6th - Todd May, Timer Whittingham, Steve
Schwartz & Robin Jowaisas bring home the
trophy from the 12th annual D7150 Literacy Golf Tournament at the
Lake View Golf and Country Club in Auburn. They scored 66 on a 70 par course to beat out 16 other teams for as many Rotary
clubs from across the district. It was a superb team effort with Todd and
Timer making spectacular long drives and with Steve and Robin backing them up
with interrogate short shots. All the proceeds from this annual event go
toward D7150 efforts to reduce adult literacy in our communities. They
are sure proud to show this wonderful trophy off at tonight’s meeting. Don’t
miss it and offer them well deserved congratulations!
Karen Veverka -
became Skaneateles Rotary’s newest member June 6, 2008, and brings the
total active membership to 60. Karen is a music teacher in the
Skaneateles School district and her sponsor is Karen Price. We are
looking forward to her enthusiasm and love of music and children to add to the
energy and the focus of Service Above Self in the Skaneateles community.
She follows in the footsteps of her grandfather who
was a long standing Rotarian. Make sure to greet her and make her
feel a part of our fellowship.
Volunteers
Needed: We are looking for
volunteers for the 70th Anniversary Lightning Regatta. Participants will arrive
in the afternoon of Thursday 7/3. Friday 7/4 will be mostly on-shore
activities as people arrive throughout the day. Racing will be Saturday
and Sunday.
The
needs are:
Support boats, with drivers and crew; Welcoming help for check-in,
registration, parking, and traffic control; ATVs/4-wheelers for launching and
parking boats; Bottled water and snacks for the volunteers.
Thanks
