Please everyone mark your calendars for the Pancake Breakfast as follows: 6/13
Friday 8-10AM to set up the grills and tables/chairs, 6/14 Saturday 8-10AM to
clean/test the grills and dress the tables, 6/15 Sunday 7AM-2PM for the

only works if every Rotarian makes a full commitment!
Our Newest Member – Karen Veverka: Great News! Karen Veverka
will be inducted on Thursday June 5th. Karen has attended several previous
meetings and Board approved her application on May 8th. With the
payment of her dues, she became a member of record on May 29th and
will meet with Ward for her orientation session on June 5th. For
your information, Karen is a professional musician, conductor and music teacher
at the Skaneateles Central School, lives in Skaneateles and her classification
is Music Education. We are pleased to welcome Karen to join us in our goal of
“Service Above Self” and look forward to working with her.
Skaneateles RC Membership: With Karen Veverka’s induction into SRC, she becomes the 60th
member of the Skaneateles RC and our 8th new member this year! That
represents a 13% net increase in our club’s membership for this Rotary year and
a 20% net increase over the past two years!
Congratulations to Ward Vuillemot: As of June 1, 2008, Ward
has achieved 17 yrs of perfect attendance! Please give him a pat on the back
(or a beer) when you see him.
Highway Clean Up: The Skaneateles RC cleaned
up Route 20 from the village line to the county line on Saturday May 31st,
despite a little rain. The clean up crew included four Rotarians (Weaver,
Plank, Ruhlman and Price) and nine high school students (Adam Bennett, Staci Dudden, Sarah Bierbaum, Alexis
Jones, Kate Driscoll, Lauren Holsinger, Chrissy Dempsey, Jim Pitman and Sarah Trust). It
would be very difficult for the club to do the project without the help of the
students. A special thanks goes out to Karen Price for rounding up the
students.
Volunteers
Needed: We are looking for
volunteers for the 70th Anniversary Lightning Regatta. Participants will arrive
in the afternoon of Thursday 7/3. Friday 7/4 will be mostly on-shore
activities as people arrive throughout the day. Racing will be Saturday
and Sunday.
The
needs are:
Support boats, with drivers and crew; Welcoming help for check-in,
registration, parking, and traffic control; ATVs/4-wheelers for launching and
parking boats; Bottled water and snacks for the volunteers.
Thanks
for your support. Please contact Dave Penfield – phone: 685-2452
email: dcpenfield@aol.com <mailto:dcpenfield@aol.com>
