program, and the first 34 teams, from Australia, Great Britain, Japan, and the
United States, go abroad. Now one of The Foundation's most popular and
successful programs, Group Study Exchange promotes world understanding and
peace. The Foundation also initiates the Matching Grants program, ushering in a
new era of service in the international arena.
News and Notices:
Holiday Joy shared by Skaneateles
Rotarians and their guests
- Dec 20 - It
was a beautiful evening with the village all decked for the Holiday in itÕs
wintery best snow covered frock when we were greeted with the sweet sounds of
dual violins for our annual Holiday Party at the picturesque Sherwood Inn. Joined by spouses, friends, Youth
Exchange students and fellow Rotarians and their guests from the Sunrise Rotary
club, we celebrated the joy and friendship of the Holiday seasons.
We were greeted at the
door with candy cane favors, organized by Kayo and distributed by YE students, Nico,
Sarah, Lucas and Eddy.
Mixed with the joy, was the bitter sweet farewell to exchange student, Nico
Avalle, who will be
heading home to Argentina, via Italy, following a year of growing and sharing
in our community. Great
friendships, great music, great food and great joy was had by all. The music was provided by; Karen
Veverka, Brenna Gillette
and the voices of all
let by Seb. Our thanks to the party
committee for a great event!
A Special Thanks to our Bell Ringers É Ward Many of our members have taken of their valuable weekend and
Holiday time
spread a little joy, and ring the
Salvation Army bell to help fill, and refill many time over, the kettle in
front of the P&C Holiday Season.
Our thanks for a special job Òwell doneÓ go out to those jolly fellows. . The final numbers are $2,249.77; our best year ever! I canÕt speak for the rest of you,
but I for one enjoyed greeting the many folks and friends of Skaneateles while
being assured the nickels, dimes and dollars collected are going to help so
many in need. Thanks to Timer
& Doug for making it happen, once again.
Cookies, Cookies Galore – were baked by our Interactors and their fellow students over the past
weeks. These special treats were
included in the many Christmas Baskets that were distributed to our neighbors
in need during this Holiday Season.
The Interactors were also kept very busy with the ÒEmpty Barrels –
Empty StomachsÓ can food drive coordinated with the Fort Drum troops. We are all proud of the ÒService Above
SelfÓ practiced by our communityÕs students.
December is Family of Rotary Month (a continuation of this monthÕs series)

change-over ceremonies
o
District conference and
assemblies
¬ Have them attend other Interact, Rotaract and RYLA

How

¬ Communicate regularly when abroad
¬ Welcome them upon their return
¬ Send the The Rotarian magazine or you club newsletter.
Through out the Family of Rotary Month, we have Created Awareness of how we might build on our Rotary Family, now it is up to each of us reflect upon the suggestion and Take Action.
