Rotary Timeline – 1962:  The inauguration of Interact kicks off a decade of official launches of Rotary programs dedicated to youth. Following the success of Interact, in 1968, Rotary launches Rotaract. In 1971, the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program is expanded, and a year later, after more than 40 years of clubs organizing international youth exchanges, Rotary Youth Exchange becomes an official RI program. Thousands of youths participate every year in these programs, which foster leadership, goodwill, service, and international understanding.
