Category Image Movie Update

So been awhile since I updated the blog, been pretty busy. I have seen a bunch of movies over the holidays.

"No Country for Old Men" was very well done. It had a very Coen Brothers feel, and there were a couple parts that it seemed like I blinked and the story skipped. Still very well done and the bad guy was very freaky.

"Sweeney Todd" was alright. I am not huge into musicals, but it was kind of amusing. It didn't seem all that gory as the reviewers made it to be. I think singing just makes it hard to take the blood seriously, and so it just isn't very scary.

"I Am Legend" was another film I enjoyed. I am not familiar with the story and I haven't seen "Omega Man" so nothing to compare it to. There was the upbeat ending which I found out is very different than the ironic ending that the book had. The vampire bad guys are not zombies, but some of the story, well the ending, reminded me of "World War Z". The whole human trying to survive with an outbreak of monsters. I dig dark future, so I enjoyed this and it did make me miss my dog.

We also were able to catch "Blade Runner" the final cut or whatever it was called. Didn't notice a whole lot different, really need to check for a list of the changed scenes. I always have like Blade Runner so it was good to see it on the big screen while I could.

"National Treasure: Book of Secrets" lived up to my expectations of being a fun movie with a history treasure hunter twist. It was not as good as the first one. The story was weaker and there were some of the standard add tension back to the story line between characters so we can have the conflict force them through their problems. The bad guy plot was poor and didn't tie to well on why he was doing what he was doing. His goal was clear but his methods were poor. As long as I didn't look to closely at what was going on it was enough fun.

And these week, based on the time we got to the theatre we saw "Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem". This chapter was alright. I have read some of the AVP comics and so it was interesting to see the new alien and what they did with it, but one Predator and the towns people getting wiped out along with the seemly endless Alien numbers just made it hard to care about any body. There was an attempt at some back story on the town's people, but really it didn't hold up well. A brief view of the Predator homeworld was short and really I think AVP would be so much better in the future out in space. Aliens on Earth in present day is kind of goofy. This movie did know if it was being a monster movie in a small town or a show down between some ultimate bad ass monsters or attempting to be a military movie. Aliens is a classic because of the marines as is the original Predator. We want space marines vs. Aliens vs. Predators. Also would be interesting would be a Predator movie that actual explores their culture on their hunt or even has their dialog.

So, yes we are pretty boring and we go see movies for fun. Need to come up with some other more cultured things to do.
