• (6 Nov 05) Latest GDB for latest SDK Well, I finally got some time off and got back to hacking on this. I've recompiled gdb 6.3 on the latest version (2.0.35) and it is now available here. I've switched my Roku over to using NFS instead of SMB mounts, so I should be able to port things more easily since symbolic links now are a lot easier to manage. • (15 Jan 05) Replacement gdb for SDK for Beta 2 It turns out that the gdb that is distributed with the Beta2 SDK is sort of broken (stack variables seem to have spurious addresses, so you cant print variable values and you cant do meaningful stack traces like \"bt\"). Anyway, I grabbed the latest gdb and finally managed to get it recompiled and it seems to work. The binary is here MAKE SURE YOU PLACE THIS IN THE PATH AHEAD OF THE STOCK GDB. To be sure you get this version, you may want to rename it to something other than "gdb". I don't know much about cramfs and so I couldn't figure out how to replace the cramfs'd version with this one. If you know how, let me know!

  I've also included the way-cool gdbserver, but I havent tested it. This will allow us to do cool remote debugging with a graphical front end!

• (12 Jan 05) Emacs/Zile for the HD1000. Zile is a small-footprint emacs clone (with many many features missing, but small and fast). The Roku HD1000 only ships with vi and, what can I say, I prefer emacs!
  The binary and the modified sources (compiled on the Roku Beta-2.07 release) are here

  The only real modification to the sources was due to the fact that this version uses termcap and there is no termcap entry on the Roku. Therefore, I have stuck in a "basic" termcap entry that should work for most ansi/xterm type termtypes. When you run emacs and it finds no termcap entry, it will (with your permission) try and place a barebones termcap file in /etc/. I've found it works well for me, YMMV.
