7B4 (42-27273), later named "Junie", and 7A8 (42-26674), later
named "Lillian". 7A8 was unusual in the fact that the Red Ass insignia on the cowling was painted "backwards", with the mule kicking toward the front of the aircraft rather than facing it. [Joey Chessor Collection] Serial on 7A8 Lillian was 42-28574. See Hugh's MACR 11705, Jan. 22, 1945. Plane also noted on DOR 149 13/NOV/44 , DOR 153 - 16/NOV/44, DOR 173 22/NOV/44 , DOR 272 - 22/DEC/44, DOR 407 22/JAN/45

Pilot Edwin L. King, 12 Jan.'45 at Pisa, 7D3, 42-29300
Crew Chief H.D. (Henry) Embry was the photographer of the shot seen many times of the oil-soaked Jug that returned to base after having two jugs shot off during a sortie (pilot Ed King). Embry says that after the shot was taken, his camera was stolen and he had never seen the shot until after the war and many years hence. The shot up bird normally sat in the next position after his on the apron.
