Kenny Newell, singer-songwriter of the Hattori-Newell Project is readying the release of his own solo project, “Punch Work Love Pass”. In the works for the majority of 2006, the CD’s release is scheduled for July of 2007.
Dedicated to “Mom” for the scores of musicians and friends supported by her throughout the early years, the album will display an adult alternative feel, driven by vocal harmonies and insightful lyrics.
After spending 9 years collaborating with Denver songwriter and recording artist Arlene Hattori, and the band Vivid Rhythm, Kenny sets a course to continue being one half of the writing duo contributing to the launch of the Hattori-Newell Project.
Originally from Illinois, Kenny shares passion and melody with the Colorado music scene, and strives to let the artistry speak beyond the local avenues
From acoustic sweetness to edgy rhythms, his wish is to transcend the categories so commonly placed beside the names of singer-songwriters, in an effort to let the music speak on it’s own.
