Four-folding, or quadruply mirroring an image, can be seen as graphic art ~ yet it is actually a new way of looking at nature. The image itself is a photograph of nature. The quadruple mirroring is akin to a mathematical formula for explicating the implicate order within the forms of nature, for bringing out more directly that living sentient essence which is innate yet not revealed.
The living essence of a tree, a plant, a cloud ~ whatever the natural subject of the photo may be ~ comes forward into view in a powerful way when the image is quadruply mirrored. Patterns are continued, unfolded, explicated ~ the hidden is revealed, the subtle stands out, new forms extend their presences and our own organic form is benefitted by gazing upon them.
The axis of the four-folded image serves as a focus of unity, innately pleasing to the patterning brain, bringing benefit of a healing quality ~ akin to that of a mandala, a geometric focus-symbol of wholeness and completeness. This four-folding process is therefore as much a science as an art. It is mathematical, geometrical, fractal.
If there is benefit in gazing upon such images, then imagine the benefit to the person who is assembling and organizing them. Imagine the excitement of seeing the subtle become clarified, the partial made whole and magnified in its livingness!
Imagine! And now go and experiment on your own so that you can validate it for yourself. Try it. Then share your images with others, inspiring them toward experimentation too. The world needs all the beauty that we can muster forth!
