Visual purple is the chemical substance within the rods of the eye's retina which facilitates sight in relative darkness. Visual purple enables the dark-adapted eye.
The cones of the retina, active in bright light's vision, seem akin to the verbal and rational left brain. They perceive detail, color and contrast --- specifics --- being somewhat like our own psychological primary processes.
Visual purple and the rods of the retina seem akin to the nonverbal, irrational right brain, and to our lesser known psychological secondary processes.
Night vision is not of color and detail, not of sharp clarity. Night vision perceives general shapes in shades of lightness and darkness, coursing in subtly coruscating currents, moving in luminous etheric tides.
The dark-adapted eye perceives chaotic shifting realms, the domain of the Dark Feminine where mysterious patterns can slowly become visible.
If the dark-adapted eye perceives in shades of lightness and darkness rather than in vivid color, you may rightly wonder why my art pulsates with bright colors rather than ambiguous shapes.
The answer is that the content and quality is of INTERIOR dark-adapted vision rather than of the outer form. Cosmic KarmicsTrip emerges from the subjective perception of my psychological secondary process, from my shadow-self.
My natural response to this darkness is to enfold it in awareness, humor and the color and light which she, my inner shadow-sister, seems to crave. She says, “Let wholeness prevail!”
