It looks like Pat Patterson is getting ready to jump out on top of someone on the floor in the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium. He was very acrobatic and one of the best for delivering great highspots. If you look at the crowds in the background of these photos, you can see that every row of seats was filled. 1970 through 1973 was probably Roy's best years (and wrestling's in general) and the Memorial Auditorium sold out many times. It was a very exciting time for wrestling fans in Northern California and Nevada.

At San Francisco's Cow Palace, Ray Stevens drags Mr. Paul DeMarco out of the ring during their Texas Death Match in 1971. The two had long running hatred for each other as Stevens defended his title several times against DeMarco. You can see how high the Cow Palace ring was here -- and Ray is standing on a wooden platform a couple feet off the floor to get this close to the ring! If the first few rows of ringside seats were not raised, they would not have been able to see over the edge of the mat.

It looks like Ray Stevens is doing something painful to Mr. Paul DeMarco. I don't know if DeMarco was trying to twist himself out of a Bear Hug or he was being dropped on The Blond Bomber's knee, (what is that called?) but it looks painful!

This is at the KTXL Channel 40 Studio in Sacramento. I usually stood in front of that back wall next to the TV camera to take my pictures, and the unidentified Miss Wrestling #4 is waiting for her cue. The little timekeeper's bell next to the ringpost is sitting on Hank Renner's table. Hank must be in the bathroom.

Red Bastien keeps a tight hold on Kenji Shibuya during a match on Big Time Wrestling. I received an email from Red Bastien a few days ago saying "Just pulled up your web site and thank goodness someone is finally documenting Shire's stuff in Northern Calif. ..." He is the first wrestler pictured in this site that I have heard from since starting it in late November, 2002 (not counting The Great Mephisto, who telephoned me but had not seen the site.)

In this photo, Kenji Shibuya is on the receiving end of Red Bastien's Flying Head Sissors on Big Time Wrestling. Earl "Mr. Universe" Maynard is standing to the left.

Poor Kenji Shibuya! Now Red Bastien has him flying across the ring on Big Time Wrestling as Earl Maynard watches from a safe distance.
