On a chilly March morning in 2001 my friend and I drove to Aberystwyth. During the previous night it had rained and even snowed in the higher elevations. The air was crisp, clean and clear. We stopped along the A487 few miles north of Aberaeron, a perfect place for photos. Beautifully blue Cardigan Bay was on our left, rolling farmland on our right and the Snowdon Mountains, freshly mantled in snow, were in the distrance straight ahead. Here are a few photos taken from that spot.

Above: Rolling hills lead down to a lovely seaside valley where the towns Llansantffraid and Llanrhystud shine in the morning sunlight. The University town of Aberystwyth (seen in the distant center of the photo) site of the National Library of Wales, has become a Mecca for genealogists seeking their Welsh ancestry.

Above: Yellow blossoms on the gorse bushes along this fence were just beginning to open. The cold weather had postponed spring for a couple of weeks.

Above: Neatly divided, rich farmland is a common sight in west Wales, frequently dotted with ubiquitous sheep. The snow covered mountain in this view is majestic Cader Idris (the seat of Idris) in Merionethshire (2850 ft.).
