Hilton Head Island Fishing Report

June 2012

Now that June is here so are the fish! Summertime is a great time of

the year to target a number of different species. June is the month

all types of fish migrate into our low country waters. The cobia that

were present in April and May are the only fish that will be moving

offshore to the North but there is still a great chance of catching a

few in June. The fish that I really like to start targeting on light tackle

are spanish and king mackerel that are abundant on our near shore

artificial reefs. Other species that will be moving in good numbers are

tarpon, jacks, tripletail and several species of sharks.

RED FISH!... RED FISH!... RED FISH!

during the summer is excellent and they are found in great numbers

tailing the shallow grass flats at high tide and are blast to catch on

light tackle or fly gear. Trout and sheepshead are the next best

inshore fish to target with a few flounder mixed in as well.
