September Fishing Report

Here are some of the latest great catches caught aboard Off  The Hook !

Redfish

Redfish action has been great the past few weeks. The reds have been tailing in the marsh flats and have also been schooling in large numbers at low tide. Most of the Reds my clients have been catching have been averaging  4 -8 pounds and some as big as 10 pounds or even more!

Speckled Trout

The Trout bite has picked up some the past few weeks. The few Trout my clients are catching are averaging 1-2 pounds occasionaly up to 3 lbs. They are lots of fun on light spinning  gear and also a blast on the fly. An excellent eating fish as well.

Spanish Mackerel

Spanish have been schooling on the near shore reefs and sanbars and are great sport on light spining gear and also a blast on the fly.

Jack Crevalle

Jacks are still in the the sounds in large schools. Most of these fish average 25-30lbs and in my opinion are pound for pound one of the strongest fish that swims!

Tarpon

Tarpon are starting to move out of the sounds in good numbers and are awesome gamefish. They usually average 75-100 lbs. or more! One of the best inshore fighters out there.

Big Bull Reds

Big Bull Redfish are starting to push in around the nearshore sandbars and sounds and will be here for most of the fall. These reds usually average 20-35lbs.

Sharks

Many different species of sharks ranging from 2-5 foot long are still in the sounds and inland creeks and are a excellent fighting fish on light tackle. Great for kids and anyone who wants tons of action!
