The first film directed by the legendary Ingmar Bergman in almost two decades, Saraband is a sequel to the director's previous drama Scenes From a Marriage. Over 30 years after divorcing Johan (Erland Josephson), Marianne (Liv Ullmann) visits him and his family during a summer vacation. She becomes entangled in the conflicts between Johan as well as two generations of his progeny. Saraband was made for Swedish television, but received theatrical releases in countries throughout the world.
