Obituaries (2) of
Margaret (McKiernan) McGeehan
Mrs. Margaret McGeehan: In the
death of Mrs. Margaret McGeehan, wife of James McGeehan,
who passed away yesterday morning at 1:30 o’clock, at
her home, No. 319 West Diamond Avenue, the community loses
one of those excellent women whose attributes are of the
noblest and whose presence is felt in all the better walks
of life. Her illness was of only two days duration. She was
born in Beaver Meadow 54 years ago. The larger part of her
life was spent in Ebervale, where she, with her husband,
resided for thirty years.
Mrs. McGeehan was a self-sacrificing woman and altogether
bound up in her family. It might well be said that she
spent the main part of her life in devoted service to her
husband and children. Even during her late illness she
always spoke most encouragingly of her own case, and when
in greatest pain she made light of her sufferings so that
the children would not grieve over her condition. She was
generous and open-hearted and her acquaintances had a fast
friend in her. She was a pious, God-fearing woman, a member
of the Catholic church, and regular and faithful in the
performance of her duties. Besides her husband she is
survived by six children. They are: Mrs. James P. Gorman,
Maggie, Rose, Edward and William, of town, and Miss Sue, a
trained nurse, who resides in Washington, D.C.
The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at 9
o’clock. High Mass of Requiem will be said in St.
Gabriel’s church, after which the burial will be made
in the parish cemetery. (Hazleton Plain Speaker,
