Richard F. Gough's
Obituary
At five o’clock last
evening, Richard Gough, one of our best known citizens,
died at the home of Mrs. John Gough, on North Pine street,
after a lingering illness, aged forty years.
Mr. Gough was born at Beaver Meadow and was a son of the
late Peter Gough, of Jeanesville [sic, probably modern-day
Jeanville]. He was also a brother of the late John Gough,
of this place. In early life he went to Philadelphia and
there learned the trade of a tailor. About twenty-three
years ago he came here where he has resided ever since,
following his trade. He leaves a wife and one son who
reside in Philadelphia. Mr. Gough had many excellent traits
of character and gained a large number of warm friends here
and in the vicinity who will hear of his death with the
greatest regret. The funeral will take place at half past
two o’clock tomorrow afternoon. Services will be held
in St. Gabriel’s church and the interment will be in
St. Gabriel’s cemetery. (Hazleton Sentinel,
