The Vagabond Ranch, located about 25 miles from Granby, Colorado, was a boys and girls summer camp in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. It is now a privately owned retreat, owned by the Richard and Linda Kelley of Denver and Honolulu.
The ranch is very similar to what it was during the summer camp years under the direction of Charlie and Veronica Pavek. The Bunk House and Parkview cabin still stand. The Ranch House, which was used by the Paveks as their summer residence, has been winterized and is utilized year-round.
The old baseball diamond, dubbed the "field of dreams," can still be used. The pond, "Polly's puddle," still has a few fish in spite of a number of spring floods, one of which severely damaged the dam (which has since been repaired). The swimming pool has been restored, complete with heated water and a hot tub.
Every year, former campers drop in to see the location where they had some marvelous experiences during their youth. We welcome these visits. Call 1-800-988-1269 or send us an email using the link at the bottom of the page for more information.
We would love to hear from former campers. If you have photographs or memories, please share them with us, and we will try to include them on this website.
