Using Your Stats
Using Stats in Combat
For one-on-one spars, only two stats may be used: Might and Wits.
Furthermore, it is preferable that any attack made should focus on
just one stat as much as possible, as only one stat may be rolled for
each attack - that stat must be named OOC before the roll is made. Here are two examples:
PyriteWyrm (12:22:33 AM): ::The Ancient Gold Wyrm focuses his attention on the flood of
Draconic tumbling from his mouth as his eyes close and his claws reach together... before
long, a pulsing ball of energy forms between them, sending occasional bursts of
PyriteWyrm (12:23:10 AM): flashing tendrils streaming out from its core... With a roar, the
Wyrm's eyes open and his claws push forward, throwing the energy ball at his opponent::
PyriteWyrm (12:23:18 AM): [Wits roll]
OnlineHost (12:23:25 AM): PyriteWyrm rolled 2 20-sided dice: 18 20
PyriteWyrm (12:23:37 AM): [Pyrite gives 3 hits!]
PyriteWyrm (4:42:14 PM): ::Gripping his staff tightly in both hands, the Wyrm in human form narrows his eyes for a moment, silently judging his opponent... then suddenly, but still without sound, he bounds forward, striking diagonally with his staff,
PyriteWyrm (4:43:14 PM): the blow aimed to connect with his opponent's temple::
PyriteWyrm (4:43:32 PM): [Might Roll]
OnlineHost (4:43:41 PM): PyriteWyrm rolled 2 20-sided dice: 16 15
PyriteWyrm (12:23:37 AM): [Pyrite gives 2 hits!]
For one-on-one Honor Matches and Death Matches, Faith is available as a third option, to be used to
heal a combatant (possibly the one rolling); the points healed will be equal to the roll made. An example follows:
PyriteWyrm (1:18:42 AM): ::Pushing the tumult of combat from his mind, the Ancient Wyrm in human form lets a prayer to Paladine flow from his lips in the draconic tongue as his hands move toward the wounds his daughter has suffered... as his eyes close, a
PyriteWyrm (1:19:06 AM): brilliant white glow forms around his hands, white tendrils of power reaching out to the wounds below... as his chanting prayer continues, the tendrils begin to knit her flesh together once more...::
PyriteWyrm (1:19:14 PM): [Faith Roll]
OnlineHost (1:19:29 PM): PyriteWyrm rolled 2 20-sided dice: 14 18
PyriteWyrm (1:19:53 PM): [Pyrite heals 1 hit!]
For mass spars, mass HM, or mass DM, any of the four stats may be used, under the following conditions:
- Might and Wits are used as normal.
- Faith may only be used as above. Healing attempts can not be made during the combat on combatants that are dead, KOed, or otherwise eliminated from the combat.
- Stealth may be used to "sneak attack" an opponent. The damage dealt will be double the stealth roll made. A stealth attack may only be used if the attacker AND the target have neither one been hit that round. An example would be:
PyriteWyrm (6:24:07 PM): [Flawless goes first.]
Flawless Pretend (6:25:14 PM): ::With a smirk about those hopelessly pink lips she stepped back from the other combatants. Those arms crossed behind her back and she slipped behind dear 'ole dad. With a rock onto her tiptoes she threw her arms around his neck from
Flawless Pretend (6:25:46 PM): behind, it was just a hug...really..it was.::
Flawless Pretend (6:26:03 PM): [Stealth Roll]
OnlineHost (6:26:41 PM): Flawless Pretend rolled 2 20-sided dice: 17 19
PyriteWyrm (6:27:22 PM): [Flawless gives 2 x 2 = 4 hits!]
Using Stats out of Combat
When using your abilities out of the combat arena, common sense must be used. Can your character easily accomplish this feat, given his or her skill? If so, you may roleplay the attempt as successful without rolling. If occasionally a difficult task is attempted, it is appropriate to make a roll in a single stat to tell whether the task is successful -- before rolling, state how many hits are required for success. For storylines or activities which will require lots of dice rolling, all participating characters should be moved to a room which is not a public gathering place; the existance of dice stats in this forum is not an excuse to flood the chatrooms with dice rolls. If it is discovered that you are rolling dice excessively in public rooms, you will receive two warnings -- on the third such occasion, your character will be removed from the Registry and you will no longer be welcome to roleplay in the forum.
