The Eventide Forum has 23 different classes, arranged in four main groups. These groups may be thought of as ladder, with Basic being the lowest rung and Avatar being the highest. When creating a character, the player may select any of the basic, intermediate, or expert classes for their character, but the following should be kept in mind:

• A character may move from a Basic Class to an Intermediate Class, or from an Intermediate Class to an Expert class. Any such movement requires that the new class contain the same stats as the original class plus one new stat.
• A character may NOT move from a Basic Class immediately to an Expert Class.
• A character must wait at least one week between the creation of a character and a class change, and must wait at least two weeks between successive class changes.
• A character may NOT move from a higher class to a lower class -- ie, from Expert to Intermediate or from Intermediate to Basic.

The player will choose a basic character class and will develop their dice in one stat only. When making an attempt with any other stat, 2d20 will be used. Be aware that the max dice for a Basic class in their primary stat is 4d75.

The player will choose an intermediate character class which will focus on two stats. Any experience gained in combat or roleplaying which uses both stats will be divided evenly, rounding down, between the two stats; any experience gained by other means may be applied to one or both stats. When making an attempt with one of the other two stats, 2d20 will be used. The max dice for an Intermediate class in either of their focus stats is 4d75.

The player will choose an advanced character class which will focus on three stats. Any experience gained in combat or roleplaying which uses more than one stat will be divided evenly, rounding down, between those stats; no experience may be gained by other means. When making an attempt with the non-ranking stat, 2d20 will be used. For their primary stat, expert classes will be limited to 4d80; for their secondary stats, they will be limited to 4d70.

Note: If a player decides to advance their Intermediate character to an Expert character, there is a chance that one or more of their stats might be higher than the max dice limit for the class to which they are changing. If this happens, their dice will be lowered to the max dice for that stat.

This character class is available only for the strongest roleplayers, and only those who have shown (insert qualities). To become an Avatar, a character must be an Expert character with all dice limits reached; the Forum Council must then agree by a 2/3 majority to advance the character to Avatar. The number of Avatars permitted in the Forum shall not exceed 9 characters or 10% of the number of characters in the Forum, whichever is smaller.

The Avatar class will be permitted -- and encouraged -- to advance all four dice, and they will have the ability to do so with a higher max limit than any other class in the forum. All stats for an Avatar may be raised to 4d90.

Note: If a player's dice were lowered upon taking an Expert class, those dice may be regained without penalty upon reaching Avatar class.
