Character Code of Conduct
This forum recognizes that some guilds entering the forum may be evil, chaotic, or otherwise counter to the normal laws and customs that govern a typical society. It is with that in mind that this Character Code of Conduct is written.
It should be noted that the itemized list below is considered an IC document; characters may speak to each other about it and any character failing to follow this Code will be punished in-game using the listed punishment.
- Impersonating a Forum Council Member - either a specific member or the position in general; explicitly or by omission - shall not be tolerated. Anyone caught doing so will be put to death (likely by hired assassin).
- Impersonating a Guild Leader or Guild Council Member - using the same definition as above - is also prohibited. The punishment for such a crime shall be decided by the Guild Leader or Council Member imitated, so long as that punishment does not require Forum Council Action. (For example, the Guild could hire assassins, but the Guild could not have the impersonator's bank account frozen or reduced.)
- Any member of a Guild is bound by the laws of that Guild, assuming the
Guild Laws do not contradict anything in the Forum Code of Conduct. Any member breaking the law of their Guild is punishable by whatever method the Guild Laws establish. It should be noted that Guild punishments may include requests that the Forum Council take action (such as freezing or emptying a member's bank account, or having a member blacklisted), but that the Forum Council may choose to fulfill that request, or not, at their own discretion.
- Any dispute between members of different guilds shall be settled by those guilds, by whatever means they choose. Should their dispute escalate in such a way as to threaten the entire Forum (ie, a Forum-wide War), the Council will intervene.
- In cases of an assassination, the "victim" is the target of the assassination and the "aggressor" is the person who hired the hit. The assassin will not be held accountable unless the assassin is the person who ordered the attack. In cases where the Forum Council hires an assassin as a punishment for breaking the Code of Conduct, there is no "aggressor" for purposes of this ruling.
