What dreams were there once in these desolate climes?
DSCF0025.JPG
These are the remains of Lanfair, a ghost town that was once apparently a large sheepherding and ranching community.
DSCF0026.JPG
This is the closest map location to the property.
DSCF0027.JPG
A few crumbling foundations.. and lots of modern trash.
DSCF0028.JPG
Bullshit Boulevard. This isolated house is where the power ended. After this it was a lonng way on dirt roads.
DSCF0029.JPG
The almost non-existent surveyor's "road" we took for about 2 miles.
DSCF0032.JPG
On the surveyor's road we got within 1.3 miles of the property's center. We got out to hike the rest.
DSCF0033.JPG
deadwood
DSCF0034.JPG
one of the only two signs of human presence we saw out after the road ran out (the other was a rusted coffee can). this was in an old wash.
DSCF0035.JPG
The terrain alternated between thick creosote bushes and joshua trees, and open areas like this.
DSCF0036.JPG
a flock of quails taking off nearby. there is life in the desert.

DSCF0042.JPG
After a hike of over an hour, we finally made it to the coordinates of the center of the property. A large washed-out river bed greeted us.
DSCF0057.JPG
This is the dead center of the property.. according to the satellites.
DSCF0058.JPG
A beautiful view of joshua trees and of some apparently strip-mined mountains in the distance.
