RisusGen
RisusGen is a character sheet generator for Risus: The Anything RPG inspired by Hollis McCray's Risus Character Generator (Windows program) (for those of us who don't do Windows). Scroll down to view the applet.
Here's a sample of the output (any resemblance to any person living, dead, or fictional is purely in your imagination):
Sample Man
Description: Sample Man is a sticklike figure complete with glasses.
Cliches: Java Guru [3], Computer Geek (3), Comic Book Guy (3)
Hooks: Sample Man is very nearsighted without his glasses. Don't expect him to recognize much at a distance without his glasses.
Tales: Sample Man has a tale. He's just not going to tell it to you here. It's just a sample.
Tools: Laptop computer, Comic Buyers Guide, Glasses
character sheet generated using Unearthed::RisusGen available at unearthed @ .mac

How Do I Use This?
Just enter the information about your character (you must check the appropriate campaign options that are in effect for your character if you want to add a hook or tale, double pump or use funky dice) and click on the Generator tab. Select the output format you want...
- Text
- plan text output.
- good for email.
- HTML
- standard xhtml format complete with stylesheet information.
- html snippet is perfect for adding characters to your website.
- BBCode
- format used on many community bulletin boards.
- tested with YaBBSE.
...and click on the Generate button. Highlight the text area that gets filled up with the format you've chosen. Copy it, and paste it in the code for your web page (message board, etc.). That's all there is to using this.
Please note that this applet will not validate that your character meets any campaign rules (including die/point total). Please be honest when putting in your information.
Can I use this offline?
You can download the RisusGen application right here (RisusGen.zip - 88k). This file is in .zip format which allows you to use a utility such as Stuffit Expander (if you need a decompression utility, check them out at download.com). The file includes the necessary jar files you need to run the program. Just decompress the file to the location of your choice, and find RisusGen.jar. Double clicking on it should launch the program.
What do I need to run this?
You will need to a Java runtime environment capable of running Java swing applications. If you need to download a Java run time for your system, check out http://www.java.com for details (note: This application was developed using the Java j2sdk1.4.1. While I tried to include everything needed to run this application, you may experience problems with an older version of Java).
