Phone booths, newspaper stands, and the use of the language.

As mentioned previously, England could almost leapfrog us, consumer technology-wise. Their cell phones and cellular service is miles ahead of North America. They have digital radio and digital TV broadcasts well underway. And the phone booths frequently offer Web browsers and email.





These newspaper vendors will be familiar to anyone who's ever seen England portrayed in movies or on TV.





The hand scrawled headlines are very evocative of England to me.

Every once in a while you come across a sign that you know is in English, but you know would never work in North America.
