It's The Little Things, Part 4More use of language, plugs, and again with the damned
cell phones.
Some more
Britishisms...
Like so many British terms/expressions/words, "Way Out" instead of "Exit" just seems more friendly to me. There is a willingness in England to use a few extra letters or older terms for common situations. There are no exit signs in the underground. ![]() It seems you don't "deplane" or "detrain" in England, you "alight." That said, some British expressions really are just odd. "The dog's bollocks" being one of them. ![]() And no one can explain to me the derivation of this sign. They know what it means, but why it's called that no one seems to know. ![]() Cell phone cameras are all the rage. I always saw them out at all of the shows. ![]() The Brits also distrust electricity. Seriously. The plugs are huge - almost larger than the appliance in some cases. The plug has a fuse in it. The outlet has a fuse in it. The outlet has a switch on it. It takes quite a coordinated effort to iron a shirt. ![]() But bless their hearts you'd never see Lee Scratch Perry's mad mug on Toronto phone booths. ![]() British music has its low points (Cheeky Girls being a fine example), but they embrace a far wider range of music at a mainstream level than we do.
