Memories of Mau'i

Each island in Hawai'i has its own unique charm. Maui offers a little of everything. Here you'll see a few highlights from the "Valley Isle".

As we approach Mau'i the beauty unfolds.
Palm trees sway while your worries feel so far away.
Our first stop is the scenic outlook where whales can be seen in season.
As we arrive in our hotel, we are greeted by a gorgeous sunset.
Every room at the Hyatt has a great view and ours was no exception! :)
Off in the distance we could see the island of Lana'i.
And below we could see the awesome landscaping that captures a microcosm of Maui
The room was so nice, practically a suite! :)
View from the Palm Court restaurant in Hyatt where we enjoyed breakfast everyday
Lisa enjoying the view from Palm Court.
Together just before our Thanksgiving feast; turkey, ham... and even sushi! :)
Lisa adds her beauty to that of Mau'i.
Here is the view from Lahaina, where you'll find many shops and great food !
Lisa smiling happily in Lahaina.
Here we are about to enter the best luau we ever attended, the "Feast at Lele".
Each guest has their own private table making it a much more intimate experience
Lisa unwinds...
...and Cuauhtemoc enjoys a delicious drink!
During the 5 course feast you are treated to polynesian cultural traditions...
...for example, during the Tahitian dance you are served Tahitian cuisine!
And the big finale is the fire dance. Feast at Lele is highly recommended!
Here you can see a lava rock formation known as "dragon's teeth".
Sunset on another glorious day in Mau'i.
At the Mau'i Aquarium you'll see all the fish you could ever imagine...
...and more!
Mountain view, we really miss that when we come back to the midwest.
On the Atlantis submarine you go all the way down...
... to the bottom of the ocean!
Down here you can see the coral and fish life.
In the distance is Molokini, a great spot for scube; if only Tom could swim!
Another Hawaiian tradition for us is horseback riding!
We rode together through these tranquil and idyllic setting.
Horseback riding is so calming, it really helps with getting away from it all.
And now we're off to Haleakala! Were you go 10,000 feet up and you'll see...
...a vast creator and the air is so still you'd swear you could hear a pin drop.
Cuauhtemoc and Lisa together at Haleakala...
...and again, guess where we're at?! ;)
One last look at the vastness of Haleakala.
Here you can see the Io Valley where there is an exhibit on Asian cultures...
...Lisa taking it all in.
It feel very soothing here.
Sunset bids us farewell and Aloha!
