San Jacinto Peak Hike-Solstice 2002

11+ miles to the top and back with over a 4,200 ft. elevation gain. Let me tell you, it was just about as difficult coming down. One of the tough ones.

Coming out of the woods.
Bernard, Christina & Matt, still fresh.
Starting to climb.
Sunlit flowers on the steep slope.
Christina & Matt take a break.
Pine majesty
Orange & green.
Green Ferns
Wer'e getting up there.
Looking down upon the valley.
Not running but still clear.
Just enough to keep the ferns happy.
Many rests stops on this one.
Bernard
Getting above the haze.
Still a few miles to go.
Soggy trail.
Flower, rock & sky
Yep, these bugs are doing it.
The distance paints the layers.
Old sentry on the trail.
What the heck lake is that?
Still looking up.
Yea, but how far to the top?
Just .3 miles but we are at 10,600 or so
The stone house.
Taking a rest at the top.
Looking down.
Hazy shade of brown.
Truth be told....
Bernard & Christina
Tired self portrait.
Bernard could not get down fast enough.
Christina leads the way. "This way."
Matt had what it took.
Starting to cramp up.
Is that Palm Springs?
One last flower on the way down.
