Unusual Studios was started in 2002 by Tyler Dykstra and Kyle Los in West Michigan when we made our first film together, In a Yugo. Since then, we have made three more high-quality short films on a small budget.

In February of 2003, we started writing The Card, which was a longer-format short film. We shot and edited the film over that summer, and entered it into the first Reel Thing Film Festival in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

While we did not take home any awards, we recieved a lot of praise from the people there, many of whom were professionals twice our age. And it was all done on a $1000 budget, kindly donated by friends and family, which goes to show a good story doesn't have to come with a big price tag.

Tyler Dykstra is studying computer animation and film at Full Sail Real World Education in Central Florida.

Kyle Los is in pre-seminary at Reformed Bible College in West Michigan, and will be taking several classes in Russia in 2006.
