"Halloween tomorrow, but,,, 10/30/04"
I have no idea what to do for tomorrow, because nothing will happen in Japan for Halloween. I'll be fixing the rooftop, missing a couple of sheet metals by one of the Typhoons this summer. It's nothing to compare to the damage of Niigata Quakes. One of the village called Yamakoshi-Mura was destroyed all the roads and some houses by about 90 landslides. The most of 2000 villagers were moved to Nagaoka City, next to the village.
"Sox it for the 86 years record 10/28/04"
Congratulation to Red Sox. Yes, they did it all the way with eight straight wins. Ah, I can't find any other words for now.
"The Forth Day 10/27/04"
There was one good news after the quakes that killed 31 and over 3000 injured. A 39 years old mother with two young children inside of her automobile, berried under a landslide at a bank of the famous Shinano River for 4 days, were rescued. It was an incredible story since the quakes. However, the mother was pronounced dead at the hospital and her daughter, one of her children was still missing. The rescuer could not find her inside of the car and the search continues. The rescued two years old boy is in good condition at the hospital.
"A Day After 10/24/04"
Now, the casualties are 21 dead and over 2000 injuries from the quake last nite. There were so many landslides that destroyed everything, bridges, highways, railroads and you name it. The power of the quake was unbelievable, because the epic center was only 10 km deep right underneath of the area. All these pictures on TV woke me up that I really am on the island of Japan, used to live until the age of 22. Another thing to tell you is there were more than 300 after shocks they've felt in the past 32 hours.
"Earthquake hit Niigata Prefecture 10/23/04"
Magnitude 6.8 earthquake hit south of Niigata City at 5:56PM and its aftershocks were continuing quite large at 9:00PM. Seemed to me there have been casualties, but nightfall has made very hard to find them out. I just have to wait and see until tomorrow morning.
"SUKIYAKI, Cooking meat on a plow share 10/22/04"
I've just learned the origin of SUKIYAKI. It might be started around 4th century that soldiers had to be served beef during war time for their strength, but who knows exactly when and it doesn't matter. Then, after the war time was over, some of them were hooked it and cooked it on plow shares over hot coals. Though, it had been taboo since the Buddhist law established around 6th century. Because the killing of quadrupeds for food was prohibited according to the law. Well, it means they could not resist against their appetites, no religion can stop them.
SUKI means a plow in Japanese and YAKI means cooking over hot coals. The thing is I really did not know the SUKIYAKI meant in Japanese. To me, it was a westernized dish from around 100 years ago. Wow, I need to go back to school, eh? Ya know all this stuff was on Encyclopedia Wikipedia. I could not find it in any of Japanese sites.
"Godzilla and Yanks choked on the diamond 10/21/04"
I knew this would happen. Yanks choked at the ALCS and the Godzilla did not make to be the MVP. I think he stank after the game 4. So, I would not call him one of the great hitters in the majors now. But, of course he has more chances to come back to the situation.
"No more diet? 10/17/04"
You don't have to be on diet soon, really soon. Doctors from Osaka University Medical School have studied DNA recombination for diabetes. They've found it works on mice which will not compose an enzyme called PTEN. The results showed the hormone controls the blood sugar level was pretty good and the body fat was 75% less than regular DNA mice. Now, if this treatment works for human, you don't really have to do any heavy exercise for your diet, none, zilch.
"Godzilla Horrified Sox Again 10/16~17/04"
He did it again ! This time 2 dingers, 2 doubles and a single with 5 RBI. Yanks won 19-8 for the tee off party. It's really fantastic. Hope Matsui continue hot streak to the World series. Had he done it to the end, I would call him one of the great hitters in the majors.

"http://www.mum.org/ 10/13~15/04"
Please check this Museum of Menstruation Women's Health. This museum is a funny place. First of all, its web site is MUM. ORG, say hey, ya wanna know MUMY Organization? And, here is one of their jokes on their web page;
"My brother told me this one:
Q: What's the difference between Courtney Love and Wayne Gretsky?
A: Wayne Gretsky showers after three periods."
"Godzilla 3 run double and 5 RBI 10/11~12/04"
Hideki Matsui hit 3 for 5 and 5 RBI for the opener of the AL championship series vs. Red Sox. It was his highlight of the season so far. We, as a Japanese, sure hope he'll become one of the great hitter of the Yankees. By the way, the great ace reliever Mariano Rivera's tragedy in his mansion in Panama was something else. I hope he's got through heavy heart and he showed his professionalism.
"But not for me 10/8~10/04
Ms. Sharapova won the Japan open tennis, nothing but good news around her. She's going to be one of those ladies who can do anything she wants.
Yesterday i went to Sake festival in Higashihiroshima City 20 miles east from Hiroshima City. This place has lots of famous sake brewery. But all of the sake brands there are not for me, because they're all too sweet. However, i enjoyed the food at the festival, especially real homemade "Soba" by famous soba chef Mr. Takahashi. I was in Heaven again and a cold sake made it much better with it.
"Feathered T-Rex 10/7/04"
A turkey-size dinosaur, the earlier cousin of Tyrannosaurus Rex sported at least a partial coat of hairlike feathers, the recent discovery said. This birds like dinosaur roamed northern China some 130 million years ago and the feather was for staying warm, not for flying. Imagine if T-Rex had feathers, they'd had been larger than human. Hey, what if they could fly? It would be like Chinese Dragon in the sky. Well, researchers named this new dinosaur species Dilong paradoxus. All these recent Chinese findings has been proving birds were developed from dinosaurs.
"She's so hot ! 10/5~6/04"
Wimbledon champ Maria Sharapova managed to advance to the round of sixteen in Japan Open, beating Australian Samantha Stosur 6-4, 1-6, 6-3, after a troubled second set. By the way, a lot of young Japanese guys are following her as she walks in the streets of Tokyo. She is really hot here, but I hope she won't get into any troubles with those guys. In these days I heard some weird stories happening around here.
"Viagra vs. Intrinsa 10/4/04"
Good news for surgically menopausal women who suffer from low sexual desire; the patch called Intrinsa for female sexual dysfunction will be hitting the market soon. There are more than 3 million women in the US and so many men who using the Viagra. Are we gonna see the battle between them or happy faces in the morning?
"Ichiro, the hitting champ 10/2~3/04"
He did it so easy ? Let's put it this way. It was looked so simple, but I think he has had get over the pretty big hurdles one after another. 259 hits in one season is "A " some record. Now, what's he gonna do in the next season?
"Ichiro, the first guy 10/1/04"
Well, yes he's gonna be there in a couple of days. The name of Ichiro means the first son of a Japanese family. You could say it's the first guy to break the old record, set by Sisler. Hey, it's only one more hit. When I first saw his play on TV a few years back, I thought he's not gonna make it in the big league. Now, he's on a way to coopers town.
