I haven't put much effort into moding
my engine as I am pleased with the power of the 3.4L V6 that
came with my truck. Though the other day I was beat
by one of my friends in her 94 explorer so I have decided
I need to get to work on the engine. I have been doing
tons of mods to slow it down, but a few to get some extra
kick in the pants. If I was that concerned with it I
would have an S/C but since I don't do any towing or take
any trips to the drag stirp I have yet to feel the need.
After a few more things here and there I will be happy with
the off road ability of my truck and be able to spend somre
more on the engine. So far all I have is a Dynomax muffler
and an Amsoil 3stage air filter. I figured I would only
get a maximum of 5hp out of a full exhaust so I just put the
muffler into the stock piping. I got the better sound
that I love, and a dual exhaust will have to wait until after
the S/C when it actually will do some good. I'm waiting
for the new version of the ISR mod to that and one of these
weekends I'll get around to doing the deckplate mod.
I have a problem
with getting my engine extremely dirty. The best way
I have found to clean things out is to *wait until the engine
is completely cold* and after covering the battery spray the
whole thing down. I then spray the whole thing down
with Simple Green cleaner. A buddy of mine did this
to his car and it worked wonders so I decided to try it.
I had to do a little extra wiping on the rubber pieces to
get the dirt off, but the pictures speak for them selves.
