Pregnancy and Delivery Homeopathic Remedy Suggestions

Caulophyllum - Mother usually displays nervous excitement shown often as trembling or shaking. Labor stalling.  The first remedy to consider in all pregnancy, delivery and after birthing issues. Weakness, changeable moods during labor.  Labor delayed; the cervix remains rigid and the contractions (which feel violent to the patient) have no coordination.
Braxton-Hicks contractions. Uterine hypotonicity. Rotation of baby can be facilitated with this remedy.  Postpartum bleeding.
         
Chamomilla - Intolerance of pain during delivery, irritable with the pain demanding attention yet unable to accept or tolerate it. Often accompanied with loose stools or gas.

Cimicifuga- Violent contraction with mother appearing gloomy, dejected or morose with doubts and fears about her ability to continue. May display alternating symptoms, involuntary grimaces, headaches or neuralgia which interrupt labor. Can aid in retention of placenta.

Cocculus - Nausea and vomiting during delivery

Gelsemium - Trembling, shaking  similar to Caulophyllum plus chills, joint pains of flu-like sensation. Cervix may fail to dilate.  Use if
Caulophyllum fails to act.  Encourage urination frequently.

Kali Carbonicum - Back labor, desires pressure against lower back. 
Rotation of baby can be facilitated with this remedy.

Pulsatilla - Better open air, drinking fluids, needs affection or gentle care.
Can aid in retention of placenta. Postpartum bleeding.

Sepia - If no guiding symptoms, try this.  Can aid in retention of placenta.   Postpartum bleeding. 

Arnica - During delivery when pushing is long and difficult, or any reason to suspect trauma to the soft tissues. Postpartum bleeding. Pains after delivery that are worse with motion, generally better with cold applications.
     Both mother and child should receive a dose after delivery.

Staphysagria- after surgical incisions ie. episiotomy
Remedies for the newborn

Arnica - post birth
Carbo vegetabilis - Slow to respond or cyanotic
Aconite - wide eyed, fearful with weak heart action

Postpartum bleeding

If remedies listed in labor and delivery section do not fit the picture displayed, consider these remedies.
Aconite - Vigorous bleeding, bounding pulse, fear of death, wide eyed.
Belladonna - Blood gushes and feels hot, face is red, dilated pupils.
Phosphorus - Bleeding with extreme thirst for cold drinks, fear of being alone, overactive imagination.
