What a Big News Day in Half Moon Bay Looks Like
April 9, 2006 - permalink

Only fifteen minutes or so before taking this picture, we had walked right past on our way elsewhere, taking note of the usual packed house of folks enjoying brunch at the Main Street Grill on what seemed like just another typical Sunday afternoon in Half Moon Bay.

Yes, that's a Jeep ... backed into the front of the restaurant.

Fortunately, and incredibly, no one was badly hurt. The story circulating on the sidewalk was that a stuck accelerator pedal had supposedly caused the accident. In any case, the jeep apparently got a good head start from the parking lot across the street -- though even knowing that I'm still amazed at the damage it managed to do. More impressive still was watching the tow truck operator drive it up the ramp of his flat-bed rig after tugging it loose from the structure, with one front wheel locked and dragging a flat tire.
