IconFamily 0.9.2 Update
April 3, 2006 - permalink

For any who may be using the IconFamily code but aren't on my mailing list of known users: I've posted another minor update that fixes custom-folder-icon setting bug. You can get the new version here if you like.

Last month I posted “0.9” and “0.9.1” releases that were the first updates to the project in a couple of years. Fortunately the code as last published in April '04 has held up relatively well for a while without needing major work, but a fix was eventually needed for an Intel byte order issue, and the API usage needed modernizing (contributed by others) to migrate off of the deprecated FSSpec type. The project page has the list of issues fixed in each of these releases.

Seeing all the use that developers have gotten out of this seemingly insignificant bit of code over the years has been a very pleasant surprise, and despite the long periods of silence on my end I'm grateful for all the kind responses people have sent, and all the great software they've created for OS X in the process. With the number of people doing Cocoa development steadily increasing (certainly a good thing!), the rate of inquiries about the project has ballooned too, which has finally prompted me to realize that it's time to set the code free, so that others will be able to contribute to it directly without having to go through me, as it's clearly been a long while since I've found any time to put into its upkeep. I'm going to see about setting up a project for it on sourceforge, and will post the link here (and notify the usual list of folks by e-mail) once it's all set up and ready to go.
