Spectacular Weekend in Tahoe
February 15, 2006 - permalink

Nothing quite like a little weekend ski trip to refresh the mind and wake up the body!

Traveling up to Lake Tahoe and back on an offset Saturday-to-Monday schedule turned out to be just the thing for avoiding the worst of the traffic and minimizing time in lift lines. There wasn't much in the way of fresh snow to be had, with slope conditions ranging from World's Largest Unflavored Slurpee to “Hey, what's that crunchy scraping noise underfoot?”, but the excellent sunny weather and near-perfect visibility handily made up for it. Sunday at Sugarbowl was the highlight, bringing us spectacular views such as this clear vista over Donner Lake:

Best of all, I had the very satisfying feeling of really improving my technique and finally internalizing some lessons picked up long ago but not fully grasped until now.

Can't wait to go back for more!
