About a year ago, I posted about helping my friend Kevin try a remote guitar lesson experiment using iChat AV and a couple of iSight cameras.
Since then, Kevin has given online lessons to more students and continued to improve his setup. Now the New York Times has interviewed him!
On page C9 of today's edition, there's an article on videoconferencing (registration required; bugmenot is your friend) that leads off with a picture of Kevin in his studio and some discussion of his iChat AV guitar teaching experiences.
Kevin has several video-lesson screen grabs on the “Lessons” page of his site, which may give you a rough idea how things look to the participants. (No, I don't really “shred.” Kevin's just being very kind.)
Kevin is also a seasoned Cocoa and WebObjects developer by the way, and author of the deservedly praised “Accessorizer” Cocoa programmer's assistant, which he's been continuing to update to support Cocoa's growing feature list. Well worth checking out if you're doing Mac software development!
