(...in the absence of time to actually write something)

Sunday afternoon was one of those more typical days I mentioned earlier, when making the short 13-mile drive west to Half Moon Bay transported us from clear summer skies to a seeming other world blanketed in gray clouds. We lucked out in deciding to drive north to Pacifica, where a small pocket of sunshine awaited us at Rockaway Beach.

We didn't find a whole lot to do in the adjacent fragment of Pacifica itself. (At 6pm on a Sunday at least, nearly all the shops were closed and the place looked nearly abandoned.) But we did manage to find an open diner at which to fulfill the important mission of procuring a hot fudge sundae. That, and the scenery, made the trip well worthwhile.
