I've been trying out NetNewsWire lately, which has made me feel rather obliged to add an RSS feed for my own WebLog. (Well, OK, not so much "obliged" as "Hey, cool! I could generate one of those!" :-)
Here it is:
http://homepage.mac.com/troy_stephens/rss.xml
Drag the above URL into NetNewsWire's "Subscriptions" list (or the RSS reader of your choice) and you may be less likely to miss a precious moment of rambling. ;^)
Using a feed reader/aggregator like NetNewsWire provides an interesting alternative to periodically visiting weblogs and other sites of interest to see what (if anything) is new. Whether it provides a more efficient or otherwise better way to get around may depend, I suppose, on your surfing style and the number of sites you tend to visit. A colleague who uses NNW commented that, while he spends about the same amount of time reading weblogs as before, he's able to cover a lot more ground in the same amount of time. I'm finding the same holds true for me.
Apple recently began offering its own RSS feeds for various categories of company-, Mac OS X-, and iTunes Music Store-related news -- including a user-customizable feed generator for the latter (which effectively enables you to use a syndication feed as a search agent). If they'll just add a way to generate a feed by artist name I'll be in heaven! :-)
