Park(ing) Day - San Francisco 9/21/06

The REBAR Group and many other SF groups came out to take back parking spots all over the city. Here are just some photos from the event.

REBAR's first installation. Just before removing the sod. Sod rolled up and ready for installation #2. Moving benches. Moving the whole park by bicycle power. Passerby relax. More pedestrians take a break. "Wow! This is real grass!!" The Mayor's parking spot taken over by PlantSF. Neighborhood Park Council 's Park(ing) spot. Moving the tree and benches yet again. An installation where you make your own lemonade. They went thru alot of lemons. Petro Park was set up by last minute participants. More folks enjoy the shade on a hot (for SF) day. Yes, this is a park. I got in the park. Strapping down the tree to move again. Ready to go to installation #4. Wow! BAR Architects Park(ing) spot was awesome. Complete with walkway and tres plants. AND a seating area. Take a walk. REBAR sets up another installation. Bare feet in the middle of downtown. San Francisco Bike Coalition set up a beach. Neslted between two cars in the shade. Great looks from drivers. REBAR's final spot, #5. Taking a rest.
