and scroll through the story of C.O.R.E. Vision…
C.O.R.E. Vision's birth was in the early 90s when three Cheltenham College of Art students, Martin Perry, Carlos Otero and Richard Brooks, began to collaborate on various art projects that involved electronic music, film and video, projections, flyers, lighting, painting, installation, dance and performance. At this fledgling time, the group called themselves 'Nexus', about whom further information will appear in due course.
C.O.R.E. Vision's club-based dance music influence was the direct result of connections with fellow art students at Kingston University and the London dance scene. After a brief experimental collaboration as 'A-nu-bliss' with Sapour, and various changes of membership, we were left with a club-based graphic design and visuals business called C.O.R.E. Vision.
No longer a vocation but now a business, assisted by The Prince's Trust start-up scheme, C.O.R.E. Vision was genuinely experimental and influential on the London club scene and ran successfully for just over three years until members felt they needed to pursue other projects. Nevertheless, C.O.R.E. Vision's back catalogue is varied and extensive, sometimes seminal, work. The first section of this archive is the company showreel that is in two parts - the first promotes the 'live' visual experience of using C.O.R.E. Vision's video, projections and backdrops; and the second part is a showreel of some of the 'found' footage that C.O.R.E. Vision had as part of it's visual library, all accompanied by C.O.R.E.'s own soundtracks.
Before the days of running projections or music directly from your laptop, C.O.R.E. Vision's video jockeys created stimulating, immersive spaces to both enhance and complement the audio experience. Using VHS, Hi-8, Super 8, 16 mm, slide projections and lighting C.O.R.E. Vision performed at numerous venues such as The Big Chill's Enchanted Garden, the Blue Note, Bournemouth University, for Basement Jaxx at Mass, Bloomberg TV's launch, an infant XFM radio station launch and a British tour with The Dreem Teem.
