About me
Hi, welcome to my computer résumé pages. I've done a pretty wild range of things in computer-related area. I know a little bit about graphics, been a QuickTime engineer, know quite a bit about web programming (PHP and MySQL especially), and really love to program (Cocoa).

If you've visited my music résumé pages, you probably know that I've been doing music for my whole life. And because I did my best to become good at it, I hardly had time to touch other things before.

The first time i asked my mom to buy me a computer was year 1997 (I was 15 years old). I wanted a computer because my uncle's son got a computer, and he had that cool computer game (I still remember the name of that game, Ray Man). I wanted to play computer games, too. So I asked my mom to buy me one. It was a crap Windows computer. And I didn't really touch it very often because I still got my music stuffs to worry about. Two years later, I decided I am going to come to America to continue my college life. So I made up my mind and started to substantiate myself. I started to study TOEFL, of course. Then I took my first computer class at the same place I studied TOEFL, a Photoshop 5.5 class. After the class is over, I realized graphics design really isn't my thing. So I took another class for C. After the class is over, the teacher offered me a job at his new company as a QuickTime developer, because I've been able to understand and learn things very fast. And that's when i got my first Mac.

It really isn't easy to work with something I don't know at all. However, I was able to pick it up and become productive very fast. There weren't much people in Taiwan who use Mac, and even fewer who know how to use QuickTime. So I've been reading and studying on my own with QuickTime. My job is create all kinds of QuickTime movie, such as interactive QuickTime movie with Sprite tracks, movie with special effects. We had an online learning system. And we record our learning movies with real teacher, real computer screen that shows you how to do things, real teacher voice, and even a caption. And with LiveStage Pro, we were able to produce movies with nice custom interface and special effects (take a look at my works), even before Taiwan Apple got their copy of LiveStage Pro.

After working with QuickTime for about half an year, I graduated and came to America (2000). In the first 2 years I was busy at music (again). Participating in community orchestra and school stuffs. Until the summer break of the second year (2002), I wanted to do some more computer stuffs again. So I asked a friend to see if he has any information about any internship. He said he has some websites needs to be rebuilt with PHP and MySQL. I said, ok, I'll do it, although I don't know what PHP and MySQL are. But after 2 weeks of reading a book, I finished the website ramwatch.com. My friend was really stunned. He didn't believe I could accomplish it in 2 weeks with no experience at all. Besides the interface for web user to browse, I included complete add, change, delete interface for registered vendors. I even provided a auto-update interface to update all rams' prices daily. While it checks over 300 rams from 5 different vendors, it really saves you time.

When I started learning PHP, I also began to learn Cocoa. A programming language from Apple with Objective-C syntax. And I've released an application written in Cocoa (see Cocoa Account), with good feedbacks (it's rated 4.2 at versiontracker.com). And while I am learning with myself, I also wrote some sample code, hoping that people new to this area would find their answers within some of my codes.

Right now I am looking for a job. I am not afraid of new stuff, and I'm always willing to learn. I don't care about money, I just want to do my best to make my work excellent. If you are willing to give me a chance, please contact me at tony@universalmac.com.
