Happy Fourth

It's late. Yes, I know it's exceedingly late, and I really should be asleep by now, considering I have to be up in less than 6 hours, but I wanted to share a photo or two with you from a little voyage I took tonight.
I was invited on a small, company-related business cruise around the Hudson River this evening, aboard a small yacht. The highlight of the evening was when we passed two of the iconic images of my great city.
Now, the Empire State Building is something I see daily, and though it is probably the image I associate most with New York, I didn't think it was necessary to photograph it yet again.
However, as the ship we were on made it's way past Lady Liberty, the statue that has stood as a symbol of American Freedom and Hope since 1886, I had to stop what I was doing and grab a few photos of it. There is something about that statue that swells your heart with pride, and awesome wonder.

Equally compelling is the site of the World Trade Center, also known as "ground zero", or the southern most tip of New York. Resplendant still in gleaming architecture, the awesome site stands as a testimonial to the trials of our time since that awful day a few years ago.

I have a few more photos up at a personal work -related site that will be up for a short time. You can view them here.

I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy and safe Fourth of July Weekend, and ask you to reflect on the Liberty and Hope that was promised to us by that fateful document forged by our forefathers in Philadelphia two hundred and something years ago.

Have a good one!
